On August Bank Holiday weekend of 2021, Magister Militum members found themselves joining Francis Hagan of The Barcarii and Alex Iles of Iles Tours at Whitby Abbey for a multi-period event. With Late Roman kit in a living history camp designed to showcase Roman army life from the legions to the borders, from military documentation to leather and woodworking, the team enjoyed two days of sun, a horde of visitors, and a very windy outcrop surrounded by early-modern and World War Two colleagues.
