Eboracum Roman Festival

The York Roman Festival returns after a two year hiaitus!

York Museum Gardens, Museum St, York, YO1 7FR

The much-anticipated Eboracum Roman Festival returns to the streets of York in the north of England - originally a legion fortress that developed into a town, now famous for being a centre of Viking occupation, the festival celebrates the Romans who arrived, lived, and eventually left the city during over 300 years of occupation. Come along to see Romans from the days of the conquest through to the end of empire, describing their equipment and demonstrating feats of combat, drill, and daily life, culminating in a march through the city itself (accompanied by eager civillian hangers-on to help describe daily life in the Roman Empire!). Meet several teams of dedicated re-enactors with high-quality displays from around the country, and even take part in kid's drill led by a veteran Roman drillmaster!
